WHITE OUT
The Resolute II is the epitome of what Farer stands for. It takes classic design elements and brings them up to date with bold colours and modern manufacturing techniques. Mounted on the pure white gloss dial are twelve numerals fashioned from ice blue Super-LumiNova. These numerals are capped with a matte black finish that not only gives the dial a very high contrast in daylight but also produces a stunning visual effect when the lume lights up in the dark. These numbers are complemented by a matching black syringe handset and a vibrant burnt orange seconds hand.
Features
Universal Case - The case is 39.5mm in diameter, with a 45mm lug-to-lug and a thickness of only 10.8mm, making it easy for anyone to wear.
Weekend Warrior - The watch is powered by a La Joux-Perret G101 movement. This automatic Swiss calibre comes with an impressive 68-hour power reserve. It is finished to La Joux-Perret's "soignée" standard, the highest grade of their calibre, which is adjusted to 4 positions.
Night Light - Not only are the hands filled with luminous Super-LumiNova, but the applied numerals are moulded from solid blocks of Super-LumiNova. Together these provide unparalleled legibility in the dark.
Crystal Clear - The watch dial is protected by a domed box sapphire crystal, which has an internal anti-reflective coating. There is also a sapphire exhibition glass on the watch's rear.
STORY
Named after HMS Resolute, a mid-19th-century barque-rigged ship of the British Royal Navy, specially outfitted for Arctic exploration. In August 1853, hopelessly caught in arctic ice, there was no choice but for the crew to abandon ship, striking out across the ice pack in search of their supply ships. Most of them made it despite egregious hardship, straggling into Beechey Island in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, between May and August, of the following year.
The American whale ship George Henry discovered Resolute drifting in the ice pack on September 10, 1855, 1,200 miles from her last known position. Senator James Mason of Virginia presented a bill in Congress to fix up the Resolute and give her back to Her Majesty Queen Victoria’s government, as a token of friendship between the two nations. HMS Resolute served in the British Navy until being retired and broken up in 1879. The British government ordered a desk to be made from the English oak of the ship’s timbers, and in 1880, the British government presented President Rutherford B. Hayes with the gift. A token of gratitude for the return of the HMS Resolute, 24 years earlier. It now sits as pride of place in the Oval Office as the desk of the US president.
