For our Series II Pilot Watch Collection, Farer does what we do best, blending classic elements with modern colours to create a collection that is familiar but distinctively original. The collection has been redesigned from the ground up, with a new 40mm titanium case, three highly legible new dial designs, and a premium Sellita SW300 movement protected by an anti-magnetic Faraday cage. These are watches built for modern explorers, above the clouds or on the ground.

HIGH LEGIBILITY

HIGH LEGIBILITY

Each dial in the Pilot Collection is inspired by traditional aviation watch layouts, but with key updates that give them a contemporary look. Each dial is exceptionally legible, with oversized markers and a lozenge-shaped handset that is a staple of pilot watches. The models use carefully considered colours and textures to give each a distinct look that defies expectations of how a pilot’s watch should look.

The 40mm case of the Pilot watch is crafted out of grade 2 titanium. And, with a compact lug length of only 43mm and a sleek 10.9mm depth, it wears exceptionally well. Given that these watches are tools first and foremost, the case features a matte bead-blasted finish, with brushed bezels whose coin edge is the only concession to decoration.

A key feature that marks these as Pilot watches is that the case has an oversized conical crown that is easy to grip and operate whilst wearing gloves. Meanwhile, the dial is protected by a domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and to ensure legibility, five layers of anti-reflective coating have been applied to the underside. Lastly, the case offers 100m of water-resistance to give you peace of mind in both the air and the water.

Farer has done what they do best with the new Pilot; by that, I mean taking an archetypal watch design, keep the essence of what makes it work... and give it their own distinct twist.

FARADAY CAGE

FARADAY CAGE

A cockpit is one of the most magnetic environments a watch can encounter, and magnetic fields can greatly affect the timekeeping of mechanical movements, as the parts themselves become magnetised. In order to protect the Pilot watches from this, the movement within each is protected by an internal soft iron Faraday cage. This protects the movement from magnetic fields of up to 500 Gauss, over eight times more than is required by the ISO 764 Certification that allows a watch to be described as “magnetic-resistant”. In reference to these anti-magnetic properties, the screw-down case back has been engraved with the Farer anti-magnetic marque.

A SWISS ENGINE

A SWISS ENGINE

The watches in the Pilot collection use the renowned Sellita SW300-1 automatic calibre. This Swiss-made movement is renowned for its premium construction, being a clear step up from the more commonly used SW200, offering a longer 56-hour power reserve whilst being 1mm slimmer. The movement has 25 jewels and a 4Hz beat rate, and the Pilots watches use the Elaboré grade of the SW300, with each movement adjusted for accuracy in 4 positions. And, although you can’t see it, the movement is decorated with engine turning and a bespoke Farer rotor.
