FLOATING DIAL

First Launched: 2017

The Hecla's deep blue floating central dial design is made up of three layers. The raised oversized polished steel numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9 sit on the central dial, infilled with pure white Super-LumiNova and micro-engraved with our signature submersible wave design. Cut-in baton hour markers reveal a halo plate of pure white Super-LumiNova, making a high-clarity dial view even in the lowest light conditions. Surrounding the central dial is the unidirectional internal rotating bezel in Astronaut silver, engraved with full hour and minute markings with black infill.

Sitting on top of the floating dial are the Farer oversized dive hands with split minute markings for quick identification, outlined in beacon red polished steel and infilled with pure white Super-LumiNova. To complete the primary colour palette of the Hecla, the polished steel sweep second hand is tipped with highlighter yellow Super-LumiNova, creating standout contrast with the dial, day or night.

NEARLY NEW - This watch is a “nearly new’ unit from our archive. As a result, it may have minor marks on the case. It has been carefully inspected and fully tested and comes with our full five-year movement guarantee.

FEATURES

Compression Innovation - Just like vintage EPSA super compressors, the Aqua Compressor case uses the pressure of the water to compress the gaskets sealing the watch, thus increasing the watch's water resistance the deeper it goes.

Twin Crowns - The Aqua Compressors feature the twin crowns that are a signature of compressor dive watches. Both crowns feature a crosshatch pattern, and the top bronze crown features the Farer logo. The bottom crown operates the bezel, and the top sets the time.

Luminous Quality - The Aqua Compressor features a generous application of Super-LumiNova across the hands, hour markers, and bezel, ensuring it's readable in any light.

STORY

Named after HMS Hecla, a Royal Navy bomb vessel launched in 1815. Like many other British bomb vessels, she was named after a volcano, in this case Hekla in Iceland. She originally served at the Bombardment of Algiers, in a bid to end the slavery practices of Omar Agha. In 1819, she was modified to serve as an Arctic exploration ship, making three journeys in search of the icy Northwest Passage and one unsuccessful attempt on the North Pole, before being retired from service in 1827.
