Cross II
Metallic Materials
The Cross II is an evolution of the original Cross, which was produced exclusively for British Watchmakers’ Day 2026.
The watch takes our signature shade of fjord green that has proven so popular on the Lander GMT and applies it to the metallic-patterned dials of our Three Hand collection. The blend of metallic teal and a soft, crackled texture creates a watch that’s filled with intricate details. To achieve the Cross’s unique look, the dial is first pressed to give it its texture, then it is painted multiple times while it is spun. The centrifugal force generated by the spinning dial creates a smoky colour gradient that draws the eye towards the dial’s centre. A clear lacquer is then applied to the dial and polished to a glossy finish. As a result of this time-consuming process, the hour markers appear to float over the dial. They’re made from Lumicast, a blend of ceramic and Super-LumiNova, and their large size makes them effortlessly readable under any circumstances. The pencil hands are a brushed silver and are also filled with Grade X2 Super-LumiNova. For a final touch, the seconds hand features an orange-coloured Farer ‘A’.
This refined and intricate dial is protected by a boxed sapphire crystal with an internal anti-reflective coating that provides some wonderful distortion when you view the dial at an angle. The Cross uses Farer’s 39mm classic case. Crafted from 316L marine-grade stainless steel, the case is designed with elegance as well as function in mind. It has a refined, easy-to-wear silhouette that is achieved through the use of elegant curves and a mix of brushed and polished surfaces. The Cross is also as capable as it is colourful thanks to its monobloc mid-case and screw-down crown that increases the water resistance to 100m.
FEATURES
Tantalising Textures - The dial is a complex blend of colours and textures crafted using a multi-stage process. First, the pattern is pressed onto the dial. Then it is painted with layers of different colours to create rich shades and gradients. Next, it's coated in a clear lacquer that's then polished to a mirror finish. The result is a dial that has a unique depth and richness that’s truly captivating.
Weekend Warrior - The watch is powered by a La Joux-Perret G101 movement. This automatic Swiss calibre comes with an impressive 68-hour power reserve. It is finished to La Joux-Perret's "soignée" standard, the highest grade of their calibre, which is adjusted to 4 positions.
Night Light - Not only are the hands filled with luminous Grade X2 Super-LumiNova, but the applied batons are moulded from solid blocks of X2 Super-LumiNova. Together, these provide unparalleled legibility in the dark.
Crystal Clear - The watch dial is protected by a domed box sapphire crystal, which has an internal anti-reflective coating. There is also a sapphire exhibition glass on the watch's rear.
Hydrophobic - The Venture is water-resistant to 100m thanks to a screw-down crown and a monobloc construction mid-case which incorporates the movement holder into the main body of the case, rather than as a separate piece.
STORY
The watch is named after the SS Southern Cross, a steam-powered sealing vessel that was used by the Anglo-Norwegian explorer Carsten Borchgrevink for the Southern Cross Expedition, otherwise known as the British Antarctic Expedition, 1898-1900. It was the first British venture of the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration, though today it is overshadowed by the more celebrated journeys of Robert Falcon Scott and Ernest Shackleton. The expedition is notable for reaching the Great Ice Barrier, where a team of three made the first sledge journey on the Barrier surface, during which a new Farthest South record latitude was established at 78° 50′S.
