FRESH NEW LOOK
The Nazaré AquaMatic is a showcase of bright colours. The base dial is a fresh blue-green spearmint, and it is embossed with a subtle wave pattern to give it some texture. On top of this base sits oversized applied markers packed with crisp white Super-LumiNova that emits a truly impressive glow in the dark. These are paired with a chunky blue handset that’s easy to read thanks to the distinctive arrow-shaped hour hand. The Nazaré AquaMatic also has a large day/date aperture at three o’clock, which makes for a useful feature on a daily wearer. Around the edge of the dial is a mirrored rehaut, which reflects the minute track and dial, creating the impression that the dial goes beyond the watch itself. This bright, legible dial is framed by the rotating bezel, which features a raspberry red aluminium insert. The markers of this insert are also lumed to ensure legibility under any circumstances.
Features
Hard Case - The AquaMatic’s case is fashioned from a solid block of marine-grade 316L stainless steel, a specialist metal that improves the inherent benefits of regular stainless steel by increasing levels of chromium and molybdenum to deliver a toughened steel with exceptional corrosive resistance.
Crystal Clear - The dial is protected by a flat sapphire crystal that sits flush against the case so that its edge cannot be scratched or chipped. Both sides have been applied with a hardened anti-reflective coating to give a clear view whatever the weather.
Super-LumiNova - The dial and hands of the AquaMatic are packed with luminous Super-LumiNova, which glows brightly in the dark, ensuring you can tell the time wherever you are.
Dive The Depths - As a serious dive watch, the AquaMatic has a screw-down crown and is water resistant to 200m, making it perfect for scuba diving or a dip in the pool.
Swiss Movement - The AquaMatic is powered by the Sellita SW220-1 automatic movement. This Swiss calibre can be trusted to keep accurate time and comes with 26 jewels and a 41-hour power reserve.
STORY
The Nazaré AquaMatic is named after the Portuguese town of the same name. Nazaré is a popular tourist destination and a particularly popular location for surfing. The waters off the town experience very high breaking waves due to the presence of the underwater Nazaré Canyon. This feature converges and enlarges the incoming ocean swell, thus significantly increasing the height of the waves. Because of this numerous surfing records have been set off the coast of Nazaré. Most recently, in 2020 German surfer Sebastien Steudtner set the record for the largest wave ever surfed, successfully riding a wave that measured 26.2m (86ft).
